Sorry again for being so late on this reply but I'm playing catch up since my wifi went out. Anyhow, it could also sound like it might be getting too much water. I would water 2-3 times a week and keep the plant in full, full sun. two good soakings a week should be good as long as there is good drainage in the soil. Hopefully its not root mealy or some sort of root fungus. if you dont see any improvement from changing up the watering schedule perhaps you may need to soak the ground with some sort of fungicide/pesticide combo.

Sorry so late on the reply....been having wifi problems and only now catching up... anyhow we do have akulikuli in 6" pots. given the right conditions they grow pretty fast. all are made from cuttings off of mature plants so they are mature already

Aloha,
I am concerned about my ilima plant...
Lately, it has been very droopy. not sure if its not getting enough water (how often should it be watered since its drought tolerant?). Also, we are battling ants that came with the pot and we dont know how to get rid of them properly without hurting ilima. Help!

Do you have mature Akulikuli plants? If not how long do they take to mature?

Aloha, as far as I know, it mostly filters out excess nutrients in the water column, mainly nitrates and phosphates but I also believe it may help with uptaking a few types of heavy metals as well. You may want to try google: Wen Hao Sun who did a lot of the research with it or "The Living Machine" and Lauren Roth.
Mahalo,
R

Excuse me, I am doing a science fair project involving the Akulikuli plant. I read somewhere that it absorbs toxins, but I was wondering what toxins in particular.
